We love dedicating time to making arts and crafts with the children at our centres. It is so nice to see all the different final pictures made by the kids and how they add their own special personal touches. We found these cute ideas online on how to incorporate nature and crafts at the same time. We also believe in using the materials and resources that are available and around us.
In the photo below we have a clear example of how nature can be used to make art. Finding the leaves and flowers will also be a fun activity for little ones so take this time to explore and get outdoors. You can do this in a garden or maybe in a field nearby your house. The outline of the butterfly can be drawn by your little one with some help from you or can be taken from a colouring book. This type of craft can be done with loads of other shapes such as hearts or even flower outlines. The leaves and flowers really bring the drawing to life and children will love sticking on the flowers to make different patterns and colours.
Another very cute idea that uses the same resources is paper plate faces. Collect some extra leaves, sticks and flowers to make faces on a paper plate. Try to collect different shaped leaves or grass for hair. Let kids be creative and allow them to add whatever they want to their paper plate.
Here are some pictures of different ideas you can do with your kids. We suggest collecting extra leaves and flowers, that way you can do different crafts with them throughout the week.
Did you know that boredom in children causes more attention-seeking behaviour which could result in sibling rivalry? Check out our previous blog on it!
