Baking with your kids!

Is your child bored at home? We know that entertaining a child is a full-time job and sometimes we run out of ideas and don’t even know what we can do to entertain them. Well, we are here to help! Luckily for you, we are experienced and trained in keeping children entertained while also developing important skills. Today we are going to discuss a quick simple recipe that your children can do with just a little help. Getting your kids into cooking is a great way to kill free time while also teaching them some important culinary skills. Let’s begin the recipe for very simple chocolate biscuits!

Ingredients for roughly 12 biscuits:

100g butter, softened
50g caster sugar
125g self-raising flour
15g cocoa powder

Yes! You’ll only need 4 ingredients 😊 First thing to do is preheat the oven to 180C/160C Fan/350F and line a baking tray with some baking paper.

Your little one can start mixing up the butter and caster sugar with a wooden spoon. You can either weigh the ingredients out for your child or help them weigh them. We suggest letting them do it with your supervision, that way they will start getting used to measuring equipment and also numbers. If the butter isn’t soft enough, pop it in the microwave for 10 seconds. The butter and caster sugar should be smooth and soft. Once this consistency is reached add in the weighed amount of flour and cocoa powder. Mix these all together and a ball of dough should form. Show your little ones the amount they should take off from the dough and roll it into a small ball. They will love rolling the dough into biscuit-sized balls and no cutters are used so safety doesn’t need to be worried about.

Place the balls on the baking tray with space apart as they will grow. Your little one can be in charge of dipping a fork into cold water and gently pressing them on the biscuits to give a linear pattern on top.

Finally, bake the biscuits for 10-15 minutes. Once ready take them out and allow them to cool on a cooling wire. And that is all!

Happy baking and enjoy the yummy snacks!!!
