Turning your child into a Bookworm!

Hello there! Today’s topic is all about reading. With today’s advancement in technology, it’s becoming even harder to get your kids to sit down for 20 minutes to read a couple of pages. So, what can you do to turn your children into bookworms?

Well, use technology to your advantage. Download an appropriate audiobook and let your children listen to someone reading the book out loud. While listening to it, your kids will pick up fluency which includes the confidence to read accurately and with the correct tone. You can even listen to the audiobook with them and pause it when your child has a question or you want to discuss a point with them.
Another way to incorporate technology into reading and use it to your advantage is to read the book with your children and then watch the movie. This will excite your children as they can spot out any differences between the book and the movie. Plus, a movie night after they finish the book is an excellent reward.
And our last tip which is the most important is to be the model! If you never read, why would your kids want to? Let them see you read and discuss with them the storyline of the book you are reading. Take them with you to book shops and browse the children’s book sections with them but ultimately let them choose the book as at the end of the day they need to be the ones to enjoy it.
We hope these tips help you to get those little ones reading. Good luck with turning those little ones into bookworms!
